PUBLISHED PLAYS

(1) A.I. GUY is a 15 minute play with a cast of three which explores the world of A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) with lots of laughs! It was commissioned for and premiered by The Pensive Federation Theatre Company (under its original title ITV) at the Significant Other Festival 2016 - Plus One which ran at at the Tristan Bates Theatre, Covent Garden, London from 29 February - 5 March 2016. (2) UNFORGETTABLE is a 15 minute drama with a cast of three in which a man suffering from amnesia has a strange encounter in a bar. It was premiered in Sydney on 14-16 February 2015 as part of the Short+Sweet Sydney 2015 Theatre Festival - "The Biggest Little Play Festival In The World"! It had its second run out on 28-29 May 2015 when it was performed at The Cuckoo Creative Arts' New Writing Festival at the Tower Arts Centre in Winchester. An extract from UNFORGETTABLE was performed at the Royal Court GRIT Scratch Night on 2 June 2015 and it was chosen as the Treepress "Play of the Week" on 15 November 2015. A new version of UNFORGETTABLE (specially written for the occasion) was performed at St. Bartholomew's Church, Hyde, Winchester at the "Unveiling of the Abbot" service on 3 March 2017.

(3) ROBIN HOOD is a full-length comedy drama with a cast of thirty which received its world premiere on 12-16 July 2016 when performed as an outdoor production by the Chesil Theatre Company in the gardens of Wolvesey Palace, Winchester. It received two nominations for the Southampton Daily Echo's 2016 Curtain Call Awards and was voted runner-up in the National Operatic & Dramatic Association (NODA) awards for "Best New Show" in South East England in 2016. It has recently been published by SMITH SCRIPTS.

(4) WE'RE ALL DEAD is a 30 minute one act ghostly drama with adult themes and strong language. It was commissioned and premiered by the Maskers Theatre, Southampton on 29 October 2012 as one of the four plays in their "Ghostly Tales" package performed over Halloween week. It has a cast of seven. The published version is a slightly revised version of the play as premiered by the Maskers with a changed ending! For a review of the Maskers' production please click here. WE'RE ALL DEAD was one of the four plays selected for and performed by Pitchy Breath Theatre Company at their 2014 Shorts III Play Festival at The Hawth Theatre, Crawley.

(5) BABIES is a 10 minute comedy in which two new mothers discuss life, work, men and babies in two conversations three months apart. It was a runner-up in the highly regarded Pint Sized Plays international play writing competition in 2009 and has been published in paperback with 19 other winning/running-up plays in Pint Sized Plays Volume 2. BABIES was premiered by Marist College in Carmel, Indiana, USA in November 2009 and was most recently performed by the Navan Theatre Group in Ireland in 2013. (6) LAURA is a 10 minute play with three characters in which "a chance discovery in a second hand record store reveals the truth about a lost love". It was premiered as one of the ten winning plays at the Chesil Theatre's 10x10 David Bowie themed New Writing Festival on 8/9 Ocober 2016 in Winchester. The Daily Echo reviewer discribed LAURA as "displaying the warmest affection for Bowie and old vinyl". It was most recently performed by the Navan Theatre Group in County Meath, Ireland on 1 & 2 June 2017.

(7) GENDER FLUID is a one-act suffragette themed play (with a cast of six) set in World War 1. It examines political and social attitudes prevalent at the time, depicts life in London and on the Western Front (including a cameo of J B Priestly as a young man) and features an ingenious plot involving John Constable's painting of The Cornfield! Two of its scenes were workshopped at the Old Vic Workrooms on 20 April 2017 by Scene Gym/Old Vic New Voices.

(8) THE SLIM BLONDE BEAUTY is a 15 minute romantic comedy with a cast of five, featuring commuting, Lonely Hearts ads and Speed Dating! Prior to its publication, it was showcased by the Gatton Community Theatre, Reigate and The Berry Theatre, Hedge End.

(9) ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY! is a saucy, 15 minute comedy with a Shakespearian link about a struggling professional darts player. It has a cast of four and was runner-up in the Maskers Theatre, Southampton's 2011 "Humble Hamlet" play writing competition and was premiered by them on 1 September 2011. A performance of ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY! by the Bonn University Shakespeare Company in 2012 (as part of their 20th Anniversary Celebrations) can be viewed on YouTube by clicking here (first part) and here (second part).

(10) SHAKESPEARE'S WOMEN is a 10 minute comedy drama with a cast of four. It was one of the winning plays in the Chesil Theatre's 2012 10x10 RSC Open Stages based play writing competition where it premiered on 18 February 2012 (under its original title Herbie). Best selling author, acknowledged world authority on Shakespeare and totally irresistible to women - Herbie has the world at his feet.  Will three mysterious late night visitors change all this? As well as being an hilarious comedy, SHAKESPEARE'S WOMEN also solves the mystery of Shakespeare's "missing" play! (11) DATING is a sassy 10 minute comedy about on line-dating with a cast of three and a twist at the end! It was one of the winning plays in the Chesil Theatre's 10x10 2010 short play writing competition where it premiered on 13 June 2010. Its most recent production was in Glencoe, Illinois, USA in October 2016.

(12) SLEEP-OUT is a moving, 55 minute play about a charity event to raise money for the homeless.  It has an underlying serious theme but lots of funny lines!  With a cast of 15 (7 male/8 female), including 4 parts for teenagers, SLEEP-OUT takes the audience on a feel-good journey showing how people's lives can unexpectedly change. A local charity commissioned Jonathan to write SLEEP-OUT.

(13) GONE is a 15 minute play with more than a hint of mystery. It has a cast of four and was premiered at Live Theatre, Newcastle on 2 September 2010 (as one of the winning plays in Live's ONE MILLION SHORT CUTS prestigious play writing competition) under the billing "George's wife is missing.  He knows where she went, but not where she is.  Dare he tell the truth to anyone?".  GONE was also a winning play in the Southampton Maskers Theatre's 2010 play writing competition FAMOUS FOR FIFTEEN. It has enjoyed subsequent productions in various countries including the USA, Spain and India and was most recently perfomed in Australia in June 2017.

(14) QUANTO SEI BELLA is a 12 minute drama, with a cast of four, about getting back something that was lost. It was premiered (as part of the Woody Allen's Shark play collection) by the Brown Cow Company on 4 May 2012 at the 4th National English Language Drama Festival in Veszprem, Hungary.

(15) LORELEI is dramatic 6 minute monologue which tells the moving story of a young life gone wrong, the struggle to cope with a new identity and the loss of the past. It was premiered by the Berry Theatre, Hedge End on 30 January 2012 in their second Page to Stage Festival.

(16) WOODY ALLEN'S SHARK is a collection of short plays about relationships with a total running time of just over an hour. All the plays have been performed on stage in either the UK, other European countries and/or the USA. A shortened version of WOODY ALLEN'S SHARK was premiered by the Brown Cow Theatre Company on 4 May 2012 at the 4th National English Language Drama Festival in Veszprem, Hungary where it won the prize for Best Direction.

 PUBLISHED PLAYS FOR SCHOOLS & YOUTH THEATRES

(17) THREE NIL DOWN AT HALF TIME tells the story of a girls’ football team who are on a long losing streak - until a half time bet leads to a change of management!  It's a one-act award winning comedy with a running time of approximately 30 minutes.  It has a cast of twenty and has been performed by numerous schools, youth theatres and dramatic societies all over the world (22 different productions at the last count!).
 
A Gaelic translation of the play won the All Ireland Gaelic Language Schools Drama Festival in Dublin in 2007 (where it premiered). It also won the NODA award for Best Youth Production at the 2013 Hunstanton Drama Festival. Its most recent production was by the Hoppers Youth at the Oast Theatre, Tonbridge in June 2016 and it is next due to be performed by a theatre club in Christchurch, New Zealand in December 2017.

The French translation is next due to be performed by a school in Cambodia in June 2018.

(18) BLUSHES is a 25 minute play about a teenage boy's daily struggle to overcome shyness. It's a play written for schools & youth theatres. With a cast of sixteen teenagers (8 male/8 female) this play provides the perfect showcase for young actors and would make a good drama festival entry. It was premiered by Winchester's Chesil Youth Theatre on 25 November 2013 and has been workshopped by several other youth theatres, most recently in New York.

(19) BACIATO DALLA GRAZIA is a 5 minute play with a cast of four in which a teenage boy, painfully shy around girls, gets some useful advice from his cool friend to help him talk to a girl.  It's been published as an individual play and also as part of a collection of short plays for teenagers entitled EMOTIONS 2, a follow up to the highly successful EMOTIONS.  BACIATO DALLA GRAZIA has proved very popular all over the world with a premiere in Denmark in September 2010 followed by subsequent productions in various countries including the UK, China, Australia, Germany, and the USA. It was most recently performed at a college in Australia in July 2017.

(20) VAMPING IT UP is a 7 minute comedy about vampires with a cast of three which was premiered at the Chesil Theatre in November 2010.  It is part of a collection of six short, vampire themed plays written for teenagers entitled BITE-SIZE - SIX VAMPIRE PLAYS which was premiered at a school in Oakbank, South Australia in October 2011 and has subsequently been performed in several schools in in the USA and the U.K. BITE-SIZE - SIX VAMPIRE PLAYS was most recently performed in the Cultural Centre, Ljubljana, Slovenia in June 2017.

(21) MIZMAZE is a "spine-tingling" 10 minute play with a cast of four, based on the legend surrounding the mysterious, three hundred year old maze at the top of St Catherine's Hill, Winchester, England.  It's part of a collection of twelve short plays for teenagers entitled FRIGHT-SIZE - TWELVE GHOST PLAYS which was premiered by a school in Luton in 2012. It was most recently performed by a school in Ireland in April 2017. MIZMAZE has also been short listed for performance at two prestigious new writing horror festivals but sadly just failed to make the final cut on both occasions!

(22) THE WOW FACTOR is a 15 minute play with a cast of four in which two officials conduct an unusual interview with an alien. As well as being a play in its own right, it's part of a collection of seven plays by seven different writers entitled ALIENS published by Lazybee Scripts. THE WOW FACTOR was premiered by the Chesil Youth Theatre on 25 November 2013 and has subsequently been performed in the USA and Canada.

(23) NOT EASY is a 5 minute drama with a cast of four about the problems parents face when trying to draw the line between over-protectiveness and a child's safety. It's been published as an individual play and also as part of the highly successful collection of short plays for teenagers EMOTIONS. Since its premiere by the Wheatsheaf Players in Coventry, England in November 2009, EMOTIONS has proved very popular with schools and youth theatres in the UK and on a world-wide basis with performances in various countries including Hong Kong, Switzerland and Zambia. (24) FREYA'S NECKLACE is a new 10 minute fantastical comedy with a cast of three women (including Freya the Norse Goddess of Love, Lust and War) set in an Oxfam Shop. It premiered at Page To Stage London at the Horse and Stables Theatre on 22 November 2017.
(25) I GOOGLED YOU is a 10 minute comedy with a cast of two about cats and dating that premiered at THE SALISBURY FRINGE on 7 October 2017.
(26) THE GIRLS ARE BACK IN TOWN is a full length version of GENDER FLUID currently in development. Two of its scenes were workshopped at the Old Vic Workrooms on 20 April 2017 by Scene Gym/Old Vic New Voices.
(27) PYRRHA REBOOTED is a re-working of my short play GONE that was shortlisted for Off The Cliff Theatre Company's 2017 Metamorphoses Festival at the Bread & Roses Theatre but just failed to make the final cut!
(28) LEGION is a short play with a cast of five which was premiered by The Pensive Federation as part of The Collective Project at the Tristan Bates Theatre on 13-17 December 2016. The Collective Project received some great reviews including these 4 star ones from Female Arts and Act Drop .
(29) THE WRONG CLOTHES is a dramatic monologue inspired by John Constable's famous painting Salisbury Cathedral from the Meadows. It was performed at The Salisbury Museum on 1 October 2016 as part of The Salisbury Fringe. 

(30) FINE ON THE OUTSIDE (FOTO) is a 10 minute drama with a cast of two in which a grossly overweight compulsive eater and drinker tries to get fit. His wife doubts he will succeed! FOTO was premiered as a rehearsed reading by Artists Anonymous at a Page to Stage event at The Horse & Stables in London on 27 January 2015. It was subsequently shortlisted for the prestigious Pint Sized Plays 2015 international playwriting competition but sadly wasn't a winner...


(31) BATTENBURG is a one act fantasy drama currently in development. An extract of the play was performed by Artists Anonymous as a rehearsed reading at their Page to Stage event at The Horse & Stables in London on 29 September 2015 under the working title of "Space Tourists".
(32) THE BLUE is a short response to George Brant's "Grounded" and was performed as a rehearsed reading at The Courthouse, Eastleigh on 8 December 2014 in conjunction with The Point.

(33) GUILT is a moving, 4 minute monologue about a son visiting his father in an old people's home.  It was premiered by the Berry Theatre, Hedge End on 23 May 2011 as part of their inaugural Page to Stage Festival.
(34) MIRAGE 2 was Jonathan's first ever short (10 minute) play. It's a comedy about an adulterous tennis player (!) and was performed by the Chesil Theatre in Winchester at their inaugural 10x10 short play writing festival in 2008.

 PUBLISHED SKETCHES

(35) DOCTOR, DOCTOR is a silly (slightly saucy) 3 minute comedy sketch with a cast of two.  It was premiered in the Pantomime Company's fund raising show "Another Bite of the Cherry" at the Concordia Theatre, Hinckley on 3 June 2013 and has subsequently been performed in several more sketch/variety shows including productions in Canada, Australia and the Isle of Wight!. It was most recently performed in Switzerland in June 2017.

(36) THE PERFECT COUPLE is a 5 minute comedy sketch in which a middle-aged couple smugly reflect on their seemingly perfect marriage. Its public premiere took place in March 2015 when it was performed by Stoke Fleming Operatic and Dramatic Society in Dartmouth, Devon and subsequent productions have included an outing in Cananda. It was most recently performed on 26 & 27 May 2017 by the Blackham Country Players in East Sussex as part of their "A Night Of Comedy Songs And Sketches" show.

(38) THE DOMINATRIX SOLUTION is a brand new 5 minute comedy sketch (with a cast of four) in which George has a "little" problem that he hopes his friends Kim and Laura can cure... It was long-listed for the prestigious Pint-Sized Plays 2017 Writing Competition.
